SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) The Dr Wazir Agha Literary Society of Government Ambala Muslim Graduate College Sargodha
organized a condolence reference on Wednesday to pay tribute to the late renowned scholar, poet, critic, and Iqbaliyat expert, Prof Dr Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabassum.
The ceremony, held at the college library, was presided over by Principal Prof Dr Raja Muhammad Azhar Abbas, while the proceedings were moderated by the Incharge of Wazir Agha Literary Society, Prof Dr Syed Murtaza Hassan Shirazi.
Addressing the participants, Principal Prof Dr Raja Muhammad Azhar Abbas stated that Dr Haroon-ur-Rashid Tabassum was a compassionate personality who served the institution for over 35 years.
He highlighted that the professor's dedication to the college was evident from the fact that he chose to enroll his grandson in this government institution over private colleges.
Patron of Sargodha Writers Club Mumtaz Arif maintained that the late professor possessed a rare combination of literary and administrative qualities, noting his significant services in Civil Defence and the Janbaz Force alongside his literary contributions.
President of Sargodha Writers Club Prof Yousaf Khalid remarked that Dr Tabassum was a self-made man whose life was a testament to continuous struggle, while Vice President Prof Dr Shafiq Asif added that his thousands of students across the country serve as his living legacy.
During the event, Najma Mansoor presented a poem titled 'Danish Kada ka Shaheen' in memory of the late scholar.
Other speakers, including Zulfiqar Ahsan, Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Ramazan, and Prof Shahid islam Danish, described him as a role model who was respected nationwide for his sincerity and multifaceted personality.
Prof Dr Syed Murtaza Hassan Shirazi informed the audience that late Dr Haroon UR Rasheed Tabassum authored nearly 200 books, including 50 specifically on the subject of Iqbaliyat, making his contributions to literature and the ideology of Pakistan unforgettable.
Dr Muhammad Yousaf and Prof Gohar Abbas also highlighted his religious scholarship and his disciplined approach to life. The condolence reference was attended by a large number of teachers and students who gathered to honor the services of the late academician.
