Comprehensive security plan observed for 9th Muharram

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Sargodha Police finalized stringent security arrangements for the observance of 9th Muharram across the district on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf.

According to the police spokesperson here on Thursday, a total of 121 mourning processions will be taken out across the district, for which more than 2,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to ensure law and order. In addition, over 500 police officials will be assigned to security duties at 246 religious gatherings (Majalis) scheduled to be held on the occasion.

He informed that elite force contingents will also accompany major processions to strengthen security measures. The routes of the processions will be continuously monitored through CCTV surveillance and Safe City cameras to ensure prompt response to any untoward situation.

Police authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals involved in uploading or sharing inflammatory, sectarian, or blasphemous content on social media or any other platform.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf said maintaining peace and public order remains the top priority of Sargodha Police.

He emphasized that an atmosphere of interfaith harmony, brotherhood, and religious tolerance would be preserved at all costs during Muharram-ul-Haram.

He further stated that no miscreant would be allowed to disrupt peace in the district and that anyone attempting to take the law into their own hands would be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.

The DPO also directed all circle officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) to remain present in the field and closely monitor security arrangements throughout the observances to ensure that all Muharram-related events conclude peacefully.
