FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jun, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen said that a comprehensive and coordinated security plan for Ashra-e-Muharram is being effectively implemented across all four districts of the division in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to ensure foolproof arrangements for mourning processions and religious gatherings.
Addressing a media briefing at the Commissioner Complex alongside Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, the divisional commissioner said that all administrative and security measures were being closely monitored in real time to ensure peace, order and seamless facilitation of mourners.
She said that special monitoring teams, district administrations, and police units were actively supervising routes of mourning processions and venues of Majalis across the division.
She said that she along with the RPO and deputy commissioners was personally visiting key locations to review arrangements on the ground.
She informed that an alternative traffic management plan had been finalized for the remaining days of Muharram-ul-Haram and its wide-scale dissemination was underway to facilitate citizens and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>She further said that the officers from all relevant departments had been deployed along procession routes while chilled drinking water stalls and medical camps had been established to provide immediate relief and healthcare services to participants.
She said that even minor public complaints were being addressed promptly without delay, reflecting the government’s commitment to public service and facilitation during the religious observance.
She said that close coordination was being maintained with peace committee members while the organizers of processions and gatherings had expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
Highlighting the broader objective, she said that all measures were being taken to promote harmony, tolerance and brotherhood during Muharram. Immediate action was being ensured on points raised by media representatives, she added.
She said that strict security arrangements had been put in place for sensitive points and the remaining days of Ashra-e-Muharram. No compromise would be made on peace and public safety, she added.
RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera briefed the media persons on the security arrangements and said that maintaining peace and protecting lives and property is top priority of the police.
