Committee formed to regulate road cuts

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) Divisional Commissioner/Administrator Municipal Corporation Raja Jahangir Anwar has ordered an immediate survey of road cuts across the city and directed prompt restoration by forming a dedicated committee to regulate the procedure, monitoring and inspection of road excavations carried out by the agencies and contractors.

He took this decision by following growing concerns over unauthorized road cuts that have left major roads damaged, causing inconvenience to the commuters and disrupting smooth traffic flow.

The Divisional Commissioner observed that in many cases, the concerned agencies and contractors failed to properly restore roads after excavation, resulting in deteriorating infrastructure.

He announced that along with restoration of existing road cuts, the next phase would include repair and rehabilitation of additional roads across the city to improve overall infrastructure conditions.

He formed a committee headed by Director Development. It would comprise Deputy Director Development, DMD Engineering WASA and Municipal Officer (Infrastructure). The committee would review and inspect the existing procedures for road cutting, excavation and restoration to ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental standards. The committee would also submit recommendations regarding issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for road cuts across the city.

The Divisional Commissioner tasked the committee to set clear timelines for restoration and ensuring completion of work within the stipulated period. He directed that no road cut should be carried out without prior approval and payment of the prescribed fee under the agreed contract.

He further instructed that adequate safety arrangements must be ensured at excavation sites and that the concerned sub-engineer must be informed in advance before initiating any road cutting work.
