Committee formed to fast-track women’s inheritance rights cases

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has constituted a special committee to ensure prompt and merit-based disposal of women’s inheritance rights cases in property matters across Faisalabad division in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.

A spokesman for local administration said here on Thursday that the committee, headed by Additional Commissioner Revenue Zubair Ahmed Ijaz, would oversee the collection of data on inheritance cases involving women and hold weekly meetings to review and decide cases in accordance with law so that female heirs receive their rightful share in property without unnecessary delay.

He said that the committee would include the Assistant Commissioner (General) and the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), who would coordinate with field revenue officers to monitor progress and resolve cases on priority basis.

He said that this initiative reflected firm commitment of the divisional administration to protect women’s legal inheritance rights and eliminate hurdles that often deprive female heirs of their lawful property shares.

To facilitate complainants, the administration would soon publicize a dedicated contact number for women to register complaints or report issues related to inheritance matters so that the committee can take prompt action and ensure transparent resolution of cases across the division, he added.
