Committee approves Rs. 13.7 Billion PSDP for heritage Sector, seeks swift rule-making

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) National Standing Committee on National Heritage and Culture Division Wednesday approved budgetary proposals worth Rs. 13,749.894 million for development projects for FY 2026–27 and directed the division to frame pending rules under various legislations within six months.

The Committee held its seventh meeting under the chairpersonship of Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, MNA.

The Committee gave approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and discussion on the compliance report regarding earlier recommendations.

During scrutiny of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) proposals under Rule 201 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of business in the National Assembly, 2007, the Joint Secretary informed the Committee that ongoing PSDP projects amounted to Rs. 2,537.086 million, while fresh and continuing schemes totaling Rs. 13,749.894 million had been proposed for FY 2026–27, subject to adjustment in line with the Indicative Budget Ceiling fixed by the Finance Division.

The Committee approved the proposed allocations for the Division and its attached departments.

The Committee also examined delegated legislation of the National Heritage and Culture Division and its attached departments and noted that rules under various enacted laws had not yet been framed. It recommended that all relevant rules be enacted within six months.

Later, the Committee received an in-camera briefing from the Federal board of Revenue on the deduction of more than Rs. 2 million in tax from the account of the Evacuee Trust Property Board.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Saeeda Jamshid, Shaista Khan (via Zoom), Naeema Kishwer Khan, Shahnaz Saleem Malik, Ghazala Anjum and Naima Kanwal.

The Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Parliamentary Secretary, senior officials of the Division, representatives of the FBR, Chairman ETPB, and officers from the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and Finance were also present.
