Commissioner warns against traffic violations on Indus Highway, orders strict enforcement

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Commissioner Kohat Division, Syed Motasim Billah Shah, also serving as focal person to the Peshawar High Court on Indus Highway affairs on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to key sections of the Indus Highway passing through Kohat, Karak, Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts.

Accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Karak Asad Sarwar and traffic police officials, the Commissioner inspected traffic flow, road conditions and safety arrangements along the busy corridor, said a press release issued here.

During the visit, authorities took immediate action against vehicles involved in overloading and wrong-side driving, issuing fines to several drivers on the spot while warning others to comply with traffic regulations.

The Commissioner described the Indus Highway as a “vital and heavily trafficked artery” and stressed that strict enforcement of traffic laws was essential to prevent road accidents.

He urged the drivers to avoid speeding, overloading and wrong-side driving, terming them “major causes of fatal incidents.”

Shah further emphasized the need for sustained public awareness campaigns alongside enforcement measures to improve road discipline and ensure safer travel conditions across the highway network.
