Commissioner visits Sialkot, reviews development and governance issues

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Gujranwala Division Muhammad Ali on Thursday reviewed ongoing development work and governance matters during his first visit to Sialkot after assuming charge.

He chaired a briefing session at the DC Office Committee Room, where he stressed strict office attendance and improved monitoring of all government departments. He warned that negligence and unmonitored departmental functioning would not be tolerated.

Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali briefed him on development schemes, mega projects, flood preparedness, e-governance initiatives, and the complaint management system.

The commissioner emphasized financial discipline across departments and said strict action would be taken in cases of corruption or misconduct. He also directed authorities to improve cleanliness in hospitals, ensure daily visits by officers, and speed up repair and maintenance work.

He further ordered intensified action against organized begging groups and instructed officials to keep flood contingency plans updated, with personal supervision of drain desilting and regular field inspections.

He said Sialkot was an important district of Punjab and urged officials to strengthen governance and ensure effective service delivery.
