LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan has sought a comprehensive plan within two days from LESCO, the Pakistan Telecom Access Providers Association (PTAPA) and other relevant departments for the elimination and clamping of hanging wires across the city.
Chairing a meeting here on Wednesday, the commissioner said that 503 teams of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) had been constituted and directed the utility to prepare a phased and area-wise plan for the removal of hanging wires from every part of the city. She said joint teams comprising LESCO, PTAPA, MCL and district administration would work together to ensure effective implementation. Each LESCO sub-division will be monitored by SDO-level officers to oversee progress.
The commissioner directed that technical staff of LESCO and telecom companies should ensure system safety on sound engineering grounds. The district administration and the Lahore Development Authority would review PTAPA’s plan in coordination with Tepa and extend full support for implementation.
Marryam Khan said instructions were clear that a transparent, uninterrupted clean-up operation would be carried out without any leniency. All stakeholders must extend full cooperation to ensure completion of the operation, she added.
She emphasised that tray clamping was essential and directed registered telecom companies to present a plan for shifting cables underground. “The objective is to eliminate chaotic wiring and organise cables in a proper tray system to make the infrastructure safe and visually orderly,” she said.
The commissioner observed that dangling and unorganised cables posed serious safety risks and marred the city’s beauty. She said wires hanging from poles were causing accidents and creating multiple issues in several areas of Lahore, and their removal was necessary for both public safety and urban aesthetics.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ijaz, representatives of PTAPA and officials of the departments concerned.
