BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia and Regional Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin visited the central 7th Muharram procession at Chowk Kalan and reviewed security arrangements and other facilities in detail.
Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza, District Police Officer Rana Abdul Wahab and other administrative and police officials were also present during the visit. The commissioner inspected cleanliness arrangements, lighting, security measures and facilities provided to mourners along the procession route. After reviewing the performance of the district administration and relevant departments, he expressed satisfaction over the overall arrangements.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia said providing the best possible facilities to mourners during Muharram-ul-Haram was among the priorities of the Punjab government, and all relevant departments were performing their duties actively in this regard. He directed officials to ensure effective arrangements for maintaining law and order and facilitating citizens during processions and Majalis.

He said all possible facilities were being provided to mourners to ensure their convenience.
Regional Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin inspected sensitive points, duty locations and other security arrangements along the procession route. He directed officers to ensure foolproof security measures and keep all resources ready to deal with any emergency situation. The RPO said Bahawalpur Region Police was utilizing all available resources to maintain peace and order during Muharram, and a comprehensive security plan was being implemented to ensure the protection of the lives and property of mourners. During the visit, administrative and police officials also reviewed arrangements made for participants of the procession and directed concerned staff to maintain effective security, cleanliness, lighting and other facilities throughout the event so that mourners could perform their religious duties in a peaceful environment.
