Commissioner, RPO review Muharram security arrangements in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Senior civil and police officials reviewed security preparations and monitoring arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram during a visit to the Central Command and Control Centre in Dera Ismail Khan, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the peaceful conduct of processions and religious gatherings across the division.

Commissioner Dera Division Dawood Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Division Ghulam Mubashir Mekan visited the facility along with Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Wazir and District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmad.

During the visit, the officials were briefed on the overall security plan, including arrangements for ongoing Majalis, traditional processions, routes of the main Ashura processions, and security measures at sensitive locations.

DPO Ziauddin Ahmad provided a detailed briefing on the deployment strategy and operational preparedness of law enforcement agencies for Muharram-ul-Haram.

The officials reviewed measures taken to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of mourners throughout the district.

The delegation also inspected the district’s central control room, where representatives of various departments, including the Pakistan Army, Police, Rescue 1122, WAPDA, Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), PTCL, and the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, were monitoring developments and coordinating response efforts.

The officials examined the live surveillance system and received updates on the status of processions and gatherings.

As part of efforts to strengthen security through modern technology, the Commissioner and RPO inspected anti-drone jammers and anti-drone guns and reviewed their operational readiness. They also met personnel of the Anti-Riot Squad, Rescue Ambulance Service, Quick Response Force (QRF), Rapid Response Force (RRF), Al-Burq Squad, and Bomb Disposal Squad, appreciating their preparedness and dedication.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Dawood Khan and RPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan said maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all citizens during Muharram-ul-Haram remained the administration’s top priority. They directed all departments to maintain close coordination, remain vigilant, and respond promptly to any emerging situation.

The officials further urged security personnel to perform their duties with professionalism, commitment, and alertness to help preserve peace, harmony, and religious tolerance throughout Dera Division.
