LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jun, 2026) On the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan continued her visits to review Muharram arrangements and, along with RPO Sheikhupura Range Athar Ismail, visited Sheikhupura district on Saturday to inspect security and municipal arrangements along procession routes.
During the visit, the commissioner inspected the routes of processions originating from Central Imambargah Kalan, Imambargah Shan-e-Hussain and Imambargah Gulistan-e-Zahra. She reviewed facilities provided by the district administration, including Muharram camps, sabeels and other arrangements for mourners.
Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth and DPO Bilal Zafar Sheikh briefed the visiting officials on security and administrative measures. The commissioner and RPO also visited the District Safe City Centre and Muharram Monitoring Centre at Police Lines, where they were briefed on surveillance and security arrangements.
Commissioner Marryam Khan directed the district administration to ensure strict compliance with all government instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Muharram. She instructed assistant commissioners to obtain route clearance certificates from the relevant departments, stressing that no compromise would be made on safety and security.

The organisers expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the district administration and assured their full cooperation with the administration and police during Muharram processions and gatherings.
The commissioner said the chief minister was personally monitoring Muharram arrangements across the province and had issued clear directions regarding implementation of the security plan. She said all arrangements had been ensured in accordance with government guidelines and SOPs, adding that patchwork of roads, street lighting and drainage measures along procession routes had been completed in advance. She further said that deputy commissioners and district police officers remained in close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram.
RPO Sheikhupura Range Athar Ismail said there would be zero tolerance for hate speech and inflammatory material. He urged citizens to verify any information, reports or rumours with the administration before sharing them.
