DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Muhammad Dawood Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Maken on Thursday monitored the main 9th Muharram mourning processions and reviewed security arrangements during visits to various Imambargahs and procession routes across the district.
Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Wazir, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ziauddin Ahmad, and members of the Peace Committee accompanied the senior officials during the visit. The delegation closely observed the mourning processions at Thallah Yallah Shah, Sharqi Sidan, and Bammu Shah, while also inspecting security cordons, entry and exit points, and preparations along the routes designated for Ashura processions.
During the visit, officials directed police personnel deployed on security duty to remain vigilant, closely monitor any suspicious activity, and ensure maximum facilitation for mourners participating in the religious events.
Talking to media, Commissioner Muhammad Dawood Khan said the purpose of the visit was to oversee the 9th Muharram processions and assess the effectiveness of the security measures in place. He said that with the coordinated efforts of police, security forces, district administration, religious scholars, peace committees, and the citizens, all Muharram-related activities were being held in a peaceful atmosphere and were expected to conclude in the same manner.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken paid tribute to the police, security agencies, religious scholars, procession and Majalis organizers, and the general public for their cooperation, which he said had ensured the peaceful conduct of all events up to the 9th of Muharram.
He emphasized that public cooperation remains vital to maintaining law and order and noted that comprehensive security measures had been put in place throughout Muharram. Police, district administration, and other law enforcement agencies, he added, were working in close coordination round the clock to provide a safe and secure environment to the mourners.
The RPO reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to maintaining heightened security during the remaining days of Muharram, particularly on Ashura, and said that all available resources would be utilized to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the peaceful observance of religious activities.
