Commissioner, RPO inspect security along 10th Muharram procession routes

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Dawood Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Mekan on Friday conducted a detailed inspection of the security arrangements along the main procession routes for 10th Muharram to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order during Ashura.

The senior officials visited key sensitive locations, including Chogalla, Imamia Gate and Kotli Imam Hussain, where they reviewed the security deployments, monitoring cells and checkpoints established for the main mourning processions. They also directly supervised security measures and assessed the overall preparedness of law enforcement personnel.

During the visit, the officials directed security personnel to maintain strict vigilance and closely monitor any suspicious activity, emphasizing that the surveillance system should remain active and responsive at all times.

The RPO instructed police officers and personnel to remain on high alert and ensure there were no gaps in security deployment along the main procession routes and other sensitive points.

He stressed the need for strict implementation of the three-layer security plan.

The commissioner and the RPO also appreciated the role of peace committees and local elders in promoting harmony and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram. They said fostering inter-sect harmony and brotherhood was a shared responsibility of all stakeholders.

They reiterated that protecting the lives and property of citizens and ensuring the peaceful conduct of Muharram processions remained the administration's top priority. They added that the district administration and police were on round-the-clock alert and following a zero-tolerance policy regarding security.

The two officials also commended the dedication and commitment of police, Frontier Corps (FC) and other law enforcement personnel deployed on security duty, urging them to perform their responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism and vigilance.
