Commissioner reviews Muharram arrangements in Kasur

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sheikhupura

Athar Ismail on Monday visited Kasur to review security and municipal arrangements for

Muharram-ul-Haram under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

During their visit, Deputy Commissioner Kasur Asif Raza and the District Police Officer

briefed them on the district’s Muharram plan, informing that 109 processions and 506 majalis

would be held across Kasur.

The Commissioner and RPO conducted a detailed inspection of the central procession route

and visited Imam Bargah Shah Najaf, Jamia Arabia, Jamia Ahl-e-Hadith Mosque and Jamia Ali

Mosque. They also met religious scholars, prayer leaders and organisers of Imam Bargahs

and mosques, who reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining inter-sect harmony and assured

full cooperation with the district administration.

The visiting officials reviewed arrangements for sabeels and inspected a mobile sabeel vehicle

deployed for the convenience of mourners.

They also examined security measures and civic

facilities being provided along the procession routes.

Commissioner Marryam Khan said the central procession route had been inspected in accordance

with the final operational plan and all arrangements were being ensured as per government instructions

and standard operating procedures. She said advance measures for road patchwork, street lighting

and drainage had been completed to facilitate participants and prevent inconvenience during Muharram

activities. She directed the district administration and police authorities to maintain close coordination

with all stakeholders and remain in continuous contact with religious leaders and organisers

to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram across the district.

RPO Athar Ismail stressed the importance of effective security coordination and vigilance

to maintain law and order during the holy month.
