Commissioner reviews development projects

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia along with Deputy Commissioner(DC) Syed Hassan Raza on Monday inspected major ongoing development projects in Bahawalpur,reviewing the pace,quality and feasibility of construction work.

During the visit,the Executive Engineer (Highways) briefed the Commissioner on the Additional Ring Road project.

Officials said the 10.5km road would connect key localities including Bandra Pully,Diwan Pully,Saddar Pully and Kali Pully, improving urban connectivity.

According to details,the project has been divided into four groups with work on Groups I and II completed, while Groups III and IV were progressing at a fast pace.

Significant progress has been made in earthwork, sub-base and base layers in line with modern engineering standards.

The Commissioner directed that both quality and pace of work must be strictly maintained to ensure timely completion, adding that the project would help ease traffic congestion and improve mobility in the city.

Later,he inspected the Southern Bypass up-gradation project and was briefed on its cost estimates,design features,traffic flow improvements and proposed alignment.

He instructed the departments concerned to ensure coordination, monitoring and strict adherence to time-lines, stressing focus on funding,construction quality and plantation work.

Commissioner Kathia said the project would play a key role in strengthening regional infrastructure and improving traffic management.

He also directed irrigation officials to carry out beautification work along the Shashmahi Canal,including plantation of shade trees,cleanliness measures and environmental improvement along its banks.
