MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) A meeting to review implementation of austerity measures was held under the chairmanship of Multan Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan on Wednesday.
All deputy commissioners of the division attended the meeting via video link and presented reports on steps taken in their respective districts.
The commissioner directed that staff strength in offices not directly providing public services should be reduced by up to 50 percent.
He also instructed authorities to implement a four-day working week in departments other than those delivering essential public services.
Aamir Karim Khan directed government officers to obtain prior permission before leaving their stations on weekends.
He emphasized the need to reduce unnecessary travel expenses and the use of official fuel.
The commissioner said only essential staff should attend offices while the remaining employees could work from home.
He also directed officials to prioritize online meetings for official matters to minimize expenditures.
The commissioner asked district administrations to further activate district control committees.
Highlighting the prevailing national and regional situation,he stressed the need for efficient energy use.
Saving fuel and electricity should be treated as a national responsibility,he said.
He added that promotion of austerity through joint efforts of the government and the public was essential under the current circumstances.
Energy and resource conservation would help reduce the economic burden on the country,the commissioner concluded.
