RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi, Aamir Khattak, on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of land and revenue reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery in the revenue administration system.

The meeting was attended by heads of the relevant departments, while deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners of all the six districts of Rawalpindi Division joined via video link.

The commissioner conducted a detailed review of measures being implemented to make the revenue system more efficient, transparent and people-friendly, and invited suggestions from participants for further improvement.

He said the Primary objective of the new reforms was to eliminate unnecessary delays in revenue matters and ensure timely decisions on pending cases. Providing immediate relief to the public, he added, remained among the government’s top priorities.

Khattak said penalties and departmental action would be introduced against officers and officials who failed to complete cases within the prescribed time.

A strict monitoring mechanism would also be devised to discourage unnecessary delays in the disposal of revenue cases.

He said that under the reforms the practice of unnecessary remands would be abolished. A proposal to decide identification or preliminary nature cases at the level of assistant commissioners to expedite the process also came under discussion.

The commissioner also directed authorities to regularly review the performance of patwaris and field staff to enhance transparency and efficiency in the revenue system. Officials found negligent in the discharge of their duties, he warned, would face strict action, adding that patwaris delaying resolution of public complaints could also be suspended.

He further directed the departments concerned to promote the use of modern technology in revenue affairs and accelerate the digitisation of land records. An effective monitoring mechanism, he said, would be introduced to ensure the prompt resolution of public issues.
