Commissioner PESSI reviews healthcare facilities, recovery targets

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) Zulfiqar Ali Kharal visited Social Security Hospital Sahiwal, Habibabad Dispensary and the Directorate of Social Security Sahiwal, where he conducted a detailed review of healthcare facilities provided to workers, recovery targets and field operations.

During the visit, the Commissioner inspected various departments of Social Security Hospital Sahiwal including wards, OPD, emergency, laboratory and other sections. He reviewed the availability and functioning of medical equipment and facilities required for patient treatment, while also checking medicine stocks, supply systems and relevant records.

He directed the Director Works to prepare a comprehensive report for increasing the number of beds in hospitals to further improve healthcare services for workers and their families. He also reviewed cleanliness arrangements, administrative matters and attendance of doctors and paramedical staff during the inspection.

The Commissioner met patients and their attendants and obtained feedback regarding medical facilities, availability of medicines and behavior of staff. He instructed that diet charges of discharged patients must be paid immediately and emphasized that doctors and medical staff must maintain polite and professional conduct with patients and their families.

Later, he visited Habibabad Dispensary, where attendance registers, medicine stock, availability of medicines and other administrative records were examined.

The Director Medical briefed him on the performance of the dispensary.

He directed that quality, timely and dignified healthcare must be ensured for workers and their families, adding that no negligence would be tolerated in the discharge of duties.

Subsequently, the Commissioner visited the Directorate of Social Security Sahiwal, where a detailed review of social security contribution and Workers Welfare Fund recoveries was conducted. The concerned directors briefed him on recovery targets and ongoing matters.

Progress of the Maryam Nawaz Ration Card Programme, complaint redressal system and registration of new workers were also reviewed. He directed that field monitoring be further strengthened, inspection activities accelerated, and all recovery targets completed by the end of the financial year.

He said that in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the benefits of welfare initiatives for workers must reach the grassroots level, adding that any negligence or lack of interest in achieving recovery targets would not be tolerated. He further stated that departmental performance is being continuously monitored and all officers must ensure professional conduct and effective performance improvement.

Medical Advisor Dr. Humaira Buzdar, Director C&B Rashid Badar, Director Procurement Dr. Haroon and other concerned officers accompanied the Commissioner during the visit.
