MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) A meeting to review revenue matters and tax collection performance for the fiscal year 2025–26 was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan on Monday.
The meeting comprehensively examined progress on tax recovery targets, with special focus on Advance Income Tax (AIT) and Abiana (water charges).
Expressing concern over low recovery in certain sectors, the Commissioner directed officers to immediately improve performance and tighten field monitoring across all districts and tehsils of the division.
“Advance Income Tax and Abiana are major demand generators. Their targets must not be ignored under any circumstances,” he said, instructing authorities to launch immediate enforcement drives at district and tehsil levels.
Officials briefed the meeting on the scrutiny of Advance Income Tax files of landowners possessing more than 50 acres, covering the last three years.
The Commissioner ordered a formal review of Numberdars’ performance in every tehsil by June, warning that strict action should be initiated, supported by evidence, against those failing to cooperate in revenue recovery.
He further directed that agricultural income tax defaulters be dealt with firmly, including blocking their land ownership records (khawits) in coordination with the Federal board of Revenue (FBR) and initiating property attachment proceedings against persistent defaulters.
The Commissioner emphasized the immediate recovery of stamp duty shortfalls identified during audit proceedings. The meeting also reviewed outstanding dues of PHATA and the Cooperative Department.
Briefings were given on the auction and leasing of government properties, including temporary cultivation leases and shop auctions. Directing early disposal of expired commercial lease cases, Aamir Karim Khan stressed transparency and efficiency in all leasing matters.
The meeting also discussed identification of state land included in private housing societies and related transfer issues. The Commissioner set a clear timeline for the recovery of missing deeds and completion of revenue records.
He ordered acceleration in the recovery of condonation fees from industrial units and reviewed progress on the digitization of revenue records.
To reduce the backlog of pending mutations, field staff were assigned specific targets with strict monitoring mechanisms.
The performance of revenue courts was also reviewed in detail, and officers were instructed to expedite decisions in long-pending cases.
Deputy Commissioners, the Additional Commissioner (Revenue), ADC(R)s and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
