Commissioner orders enhanced coordination for peaceful observance of Muharram

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jun, 2026) Commissioner Dawood Khan on Monday directed all relevant departments to ensure effective coordination and remain fully vigilant to maintain peace, facilitate mourners, and guarantee smooth observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across the division.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting held to review security, sanitation, traffic management, and other arrangements for Muharram. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Hikmatullah, Assistant to Commissioner (Political and Development) Sajjad Baloch, and officials from various departments.

During the meeting, the participants reviewed in detail the arrangements made for Muharram, ongoing programmes, processions, religious gatherings, and the facilities being provided to mourners. The officials briefed the Commissioner on departmental performance, including security plans, cleanliness measures, street lighting, drainage systems, and other administrative preparations.

Commissioner Dawood Khan emphasized that maintaining law and order during Muharram remained the administration’s top priority and warned that any negligence in duty would not be tolerated. He instructed all departments concerned to further strengthen coordination and communication to ensure maximum convenience and safety for mourners.

The meeting also identified areas requiring improvement and stressed the effective utilization of available resources through a coordinated strategy among departments. The officials were directed to continue field monitoring and take proactive measures to address any emergency situation.

Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made so far, the commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the district administration, municipal authorities, and law enforcement agencies to work collectively to ensure a peaceful, organized, and secure Muharram-ul-Haram.
