PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud on Monday held an important meeting with a delegation of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by President Junaid Altaf, Senior Vice President Nadeem Rauf, and President Tajir Insaf Shahid Khan.
During the meeting, matters relating to issues faced by the business community, provision of business facilities, and urban management were discussed in detail, said a press release.
A proposal was presented to eliminate encroachments while safeguarding the livelihoods of street vendors through the introduction of standardized carts with uniform size, color, and design. The Sarhad Chamber assured full cooperation for the initiative.
The Commissioner issued on-the-spot directives to relevant authorities for immediate resolution of certain issues, while assuring that other matters would be taken up with higher authorities for practical solutions.
It was also agreed to ensure proper registration of street vendors and allocation of designated spaces to maintain smooth traffic flow and improve the city’s outlook.
In the initial phase, a pilot project for standardized handcarts will be launched in Firdous Bazaar Road and board Bazaar.
Assistant Commissioners concerned were directed to remain in close coordination with Chamber representatives to ensure effective implementation of the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud said that the business community plays a vital role in the national economy and resolving their genuine issues remains a top priority.
He reaffirmed that the doors of the Commissioner’s office are always open for traders and their concerns will be addressed on a priority basis.
The delegation thanked the Commissioner for his time and prompt directives, assuring full cooperation from their side.
