RAJANPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry on Friday conducted a detailed inspection of flood preparedness arrangements in various Pachad areas of Rajanpur district in view of ongoing monsoon rains and the potential flood flows from the hill torrent.
ADCR Zahoor Hussain, AC Jampur Muhammad Shahid, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Dr Muhammad Aslam, Xen irrigation and hill torrents Muhammad Umar, Rana Munawar and officials of the relevant departments accompanied the commissioner during the visit.
The detailed inspection covered flood channels, drains, waterways, protective embankments and relief arrangements at several vulnerable locations. Xen Muhammad Umar briefed the commissioner on the flow pattern of the hill torrents, flood-carrying channels, protective measures, sensitive points and potential risks.
Commissioner Chaudhry visited Drain No. 145 near Qutab Canal, Syphon 145, the Haji Pur Flood Relief Camp, Pul Pathan and other key sites.
He said that in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, protecting the lives and property of citizens remained the government's top priority and directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert, maintain round-the-clock monitoring of the flood situation and utilize all available resources to tackle any emergency.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He stressed that the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), district administration, irrigation department, Rescue 1122 and other departments should ensure effective coordination and strengthen the early warning system to provide timely information to both authorities and the public.
He directed officials to ensure availability of clean drinking water, food, medicines, bedding, electricity, sanitation and other essential facilities so that affected people could be provided immediate assistance when required.
He also urged citizens to avoid visiting flood channels, waterways and hill torrents, keep children away from such areas and refrain from bathing or entering floodwaters unnecessarily and strictly follow the instructions issued by the administration and relevant departments.
Commissioner sought continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations, keeping machinery and emergency staff fully prepared and ensure an immediate response to any emergency to safeguard lives and property.
