HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Hyderabad Division, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, on Monday chaired an important meeting to review and finalize security and civic arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH, directing all district administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure peaceful observance of the holy month across the division.
The meeting was held at the Commissioner Office, Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad, and attended by senior officials of police, Rangers, intelligence agencies, Health Department, HESCO, SSGC, Rescue 1122, local government institutions and other relevant departments, while Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from districts of Badin, Dadu, Jamshoro, Matiari, Sujawal, Thatta, Tando Allahyar and Tando Mohammad Khan joined through video link.
During the meeting, Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi directed all Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to share detailed preparedness plans to ensure Muharram passes in an atmosphere of peace, religious harmony and tranquility.
Deputy Commissioners briefed the meeting on the number of Majalis and mourning processions, security deployment plans and arrangements in their respective districts. They emphasized upon the need for uninterrupted electricity and gas supply during Majalis and procession timings and highlighted sensitive areas requiring enhanced security measures.
The participants also reviewed contingency plans for traffic management, emergency response, healthcare facilities and coordination among civic and law enforcement institutions.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The SSP Badin, informed the meeting that misuse of social media and fake news posed serious challenges during Muharram, stressing the need for an effective mechanism to monitor, counter and remove hate speech and provocative online content in a timely manner.
The SSP Matiari informed the meeting that additional police personnel and law enforcement agencies had been deployed in Hala and Matiari to maintain peace and strengthen security during Muharram.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police directed the Deputy Commissioner Dadu to further strengthen security arrangements in the district’s bordering areas adjoining Balochistan to prevent any untoward incident.
Officials of the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Police and other law enforcement agencies assured full preparedness and coordination for maintaining law and order during Muharram. Representatives of civic institutions, including HESCO, Rescue 1122 and Health Services, also assured that emergency and essential services would remain on high alert throughout the holy month.
The meeting concluded with the Commissioner emphasizing close coordination among all concerned departments and directing officials to ensure timely implementation of all security and civic measures for peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram in Hyderabad Division.
