Dawood Khan instructed authorities to update micro-plans and complete data records to improve target-setting and future planning.

He also reviewed the security situation and directed officials to ensure strict security arrangements at all vaccination centres so that polio teams could perform their duties without fear.

The commissioner also appealed the parents to ensure that their children receive polio drops, stressing that vaccination was essential to protect children from the crippling disease. He said eradication of polio required the vaccination of every child and called it a collective social responsibility.

The health experts noted that the poliovirus still exists in a few parts of the world and cases continue to emerge in some areas of Pakistan, making child immunization critically important. The commissioner directed the Health Department and other relevant institutions to ensure door-to-door coverage and strengthen public awareness efforts during the campaign.
