Commissioner commends role of stakeholders for ensuring peace during Muharram

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, here Saturday, praised district administration, police, Capital Metropolitan Government, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and all other relevant departments for ensuring peace in Muharram-ul-Haram and maintaining exemplary law and order throughout the division.

In a statement, the commissioner said that all institutions demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility while performing their duties during Muharram. He noted that effective coordination among government departments and law enforcement agencies ensured comprehensive security and administrative arrangements for religious gatherings and processions.

The commissioner also appreciated the constructive role played by religious scholars from all schools of thought whose cooperation and responsible conduct helped strengthen peace, harmony and interfaith understanding.

The Commissioner particularly acknowledged the cooperation extended by the business community and citizens of Peshawar with the district administration and law enforcement agencies, stating that their support contributed significantly to the successful conclusion of Muharram in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and religious harmony.

He further said that the government and district administration highly value the services of all officers, officials, religious scholars, traders, Civil Defense volunteers and the business community who played a vital role in maintaining peace during the holy month.

He also announced the holding of a ceremony to give certificates to officers, personnel, traders, volunteers and other individuals who rendered outstanding services in ensuring effective security arrangements and maintaining law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram.
