Commissioner chairs oversight meeting as 26 arrested across Rawalpindi Division in intensified price control operations

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Aamir Khattak on Thursday chaired a key price control meeting, directing magistrates to be actively deployed in the field to monitor prices of essential commodities, a spokesperson said.

The meeting emphasised strict oversight of vegetables, fruits, flour, sugar, ghee, and chicken across the division. In the past 24 hours, authorities conducted inspections at 6,479 locations, detecting 551 violations, imposing fines totalling Rs 949,500, arresting 26 individuals, and sealing 21 establishments.

In Rawalpindi District, 2,395 inspections were carried out, resulting in 84 violations, Rs 727,000 in fines, 14 arrests, and 15 buildings sealed.

In Attock District, 1,289 checks detected 301 violations, Rs 45,000 in fines, and three arrests.

Similarly, in Jhelum District, 1,459 inspections recorded 88 violations, Rs 94,500 in fines, six arrests, and four buildings sealed. In Chakwal District, 907 locations were checked, resulting in 43 violations, Rs 72,000 in fines, and one building sealed. In Murree District, 429 inspections led to 35 violations, Rs 11,000 in fines, three arrests, and one building sealed.

The spokesperson said the operations reflected the division administration’s commitment to ensuring fair pricing and protecting consumers. Field magistrates were instructed to continue rigorous monitoring to prevent profiteering and hoarding of essential items.
