CM chairs meeting on security, governance, development in Malakand Division

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jul, 2026) Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi here Saturday chaired a high level meeting to review the law and order situation, governance, service delivery, development programs and progress on ongoing development projects in Malakand Division.

Senior officials from relevant government departments attended the meeting and briefed the CM about areas of performance and progress being made so far.

Chairing the meeting, CM directed police authorities to expedite investigations into recent attacks on parliamentarians in Malakand Division and submit a comprehensive report at the earliest.

Reaffirming the government's commitment to public safety, he stated that protecting the lives and property of citizens is among top priorities of provincial government.

He said KP Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) are being further strengthened with modern weapons, advanced technology, equipment and other essential resources to enhance counterterrorism capabilities.

The CM also instructed authorities to adopt a zero tolerance policy against terrorism, extremism and narcotics throughout Malakand Division and emphasized that coordinated, decisive and practical action should be taken against criminals and anti-social elements.

During the meeting, directions were issued to ensure the timely release of full funding for the children hospital and avoid delays in public welfare projects.

To address public needs during the ongoing heatwave, he ordered the establishment of labour shelters across various districts of Malakand Division and directed officials to ensure the availability of drinking water and electric fans at public places.

Highlighting the importance of efficient governance, the CM directed departments to significantly improve service delivery and make public satisfaction the Primary benchmark for institutional performance. He further directed officials to continue holding regular open public forums to address citizens' grievances promptly.

KP CM was informed the meeting that work is currently underway on 737 development schemes across Malakand Division while 99 percent of the allocated development funds for the current fiscal year have already been utilized.

The meeting was further informed that fourteen Police Facilitation Centers are providing services to the public while three additional centers are under construction to improve access to police services.
