Clerics pledge support for Muharram security in Jaranwala

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain held a key meeting with religious scholars in Jaranwala

while the clerics assured their full support to strengthen security measures for Muharram-ul-Haram

to maintain peace and religious harmony.

During the meeting, the CPO sought practical and actionable suggestions from the participants

regarding Muharram security arrangements and discussed measures for ensuring peaceful

conduct of Majalis and mourning processions.

He assured the participants that Faisalabad Police had finalized foolproof security arrangements

for all religious gatherings and mourning processions.

He said that protection of mourners and maintenance of law & order were top priorities

of the district police.

He emphasized that carrying weapons or any hazardous items during Majalis and mourning

processions was strictly prohibited and strict action would be taken against the law violators.

He directed law enforcement personnel to maintain heightened vigilance and keep a close

watch on suspicious individuals in and around procession routes and congregation venues.

He further informed the meeting that special traffic arrangements had been made to facilitate

smooth vehicular movement during Muharram.

Dedicated traffic wardens had been assigned duties while alternative routes would be

provided to minimize inconvenience to the public and ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic,

he added.

During interactive session, the CPO listened to the problems of participants and issued

on the spot directions for their prompt resolution.

The police department was committee to address public concerns and ensure effective

coordination with all stakeholders, he added.

He said the role of religious scholars in promoting peace, tolerance and social harmony

had always been commendable.

The CPO said that sustainable law & order could only be maintained through mutual

cooperation and collective responsibility.

He urged all segments of the society to play their role in ensuring a peaceful, secure

and harmonious atmosphere during Muharram-ul-Haram as close coordination between

the police, religious leaders and the community was imperative for preserving unity and

public safety.

The religious scholars appreciated the comprehensive security measures taken by

Faisalabad Police and thanked the CPO for engaging with community leaders ahead

of Muharram.

They assured complete cooperation with law enforcement agencies to help maintain

a peaceful environment throughout the holy month.

SP Jaranwala Division Akhtar Ali, SDPOs of various circles of Jaranwala Division,

prominent religious scholars including Maulana Qari Noor Zaman, Zafar Iqbal and

Hajji Khalid, along with other community representatives were present in the meeting.
