Cleanliness drive intensified in Chiniot under ‘Suthra Punjab’ initiative

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, efforts to transform Chiniot into a cleaner district have been significantly accelerated, with authorities pushing for stricter implementation of the “Suthra Punjab” programme.

In this regard on Sunday, a high-level review meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan, assessed progress on sanitation measures across the district. Assistant Commissioners joined via video link, while senior officials including Managing Director Suthra Punjab Chiniot Wasiq Abbas Haral and tehsil managers attended in person.

During the session, the Deputy Commissioner directed authorities to carry out intensive one-day deep cleaning operations in each union council, both in rural and urban areas.

She also stressed the need for physical verification of machinery and workforce, timely emptying of waste bins, and ensuring effective door-to-door garbage collection. Regular cleaning of road dividers and immediate planning for de-silting operations were also emphasized.

Officials briefed the meeting that sanitation activities are being closely monitored across all tehsils, with live tracking of operational vehicles in place. Assistant Commissioners reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness through enhanced coordination with the Suthra Punjab agency, while ensuring swift resolution of public complaints related to waste management.
