ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) Funeral prayers for martyr Muhammad Liaqat Ali Shaheed, the courageous civilian who sacrificed his life while thwarting a suicide attack in Jand tehsil of Attock district, were offered with full state honours at Police Lines Attock on Monday amid an outpouring of grief and tributes.

The funeral was attended by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Member of the National Assembly Malik Sohail Khan Kamrial, Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza, District Police Officer Sardar Muhammad Awaran Khan, former provincial minister Jahangir Khanzada, senior civil and military officials, political leaders, relatives of the martyr, and a large number of citizens. The funeral prayer was led by Pir Saadat Ali Shah.

Floral wreaths were laid on the martyr’s coffin, while special prayers and Fateha were offered for the elevation of his ranks, national peace and stability, and the eradication of terrorism.

The ceremony reflected deep national respect for the civilian hero whose sacrifice prevented a potentially devastating attack and saved numerous innocent lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Hanif Abbasi said Muhammad Liaqat Ali Shaheed had set an extraordinary example of courage, patriotism and selflessness by laying down his life for the protection of humanity and the country. He said the nation would always remember the sacrifices of its martyrs with pride and honour, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces, law enforcement agencies and citizens remained united against terrorism. The minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating militancy and assured the bereaved family that the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes would never be forgotten.
