RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) and Rawalpindi Cantonment board (RCB) have completed extensive arrangements to facilitate mourners and ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of Muharram processions.
Municipal Officer (Infrastructure) Rafaqat Hayat Gondal told APP that repair and maintenance work on all procession routes from Sadiqabad to Qadeemi Imambargah Road had been completed, while streetlights had been installed and restored to ensure adequate illumination along the routes.
He said Municipal Corporation teams were working round the clock and any issue arising on procession routes or at related locations was being addressed immediately to prevent inconvenience to mourners.
Gondal said encroachments had also been removed from procession routes to ensure the unhindered movement of processions and provide a safe and comfortable environment for participants.
He added that all necessary measures were being taken in coordination with the district administration and other relevant departments, while special monitoring was underway to ensure the provision of municipal services during Muharram.
Meanwhile, mourners, citizens and religious leaders appreciated the arrangements made by the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board for cleanliness, drainage and maintenance of procession routes during the 6th Muharram procession.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>According to RCB officials, sanitation staff remained active throughout the procession routes, ensuring timely garbage collection, drain cleaning and road washing. Continuous monitoring was also carried out to provide mourners with a clean, orderly and secure environment.
Religious and social figures paid tribute to the services of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board's Chief Executive Officer, Assistant Commissioner Cantt, sanitation workers, area supervisors and other officials, describing the arrangements as a reflection of the administration's professionalism, commitment and public service.
In a joint statement, trustee and Sajjada Nashin of Darbar-e -Alia Syed Sakhi Shah Pyara Kazmi Al-Mashhadi Sarkar, Bawa Syed Qasim Ali Shah Kazmi Al-Mashhadi, and Syed Izhar Shah Naqvi termed the facilities provided to mourners before and during Muharram commendable.
They said special attention to cleanliness, drainage and procession routes had helped create a cleaner, safer and more peaceful environment for mourners. They also appreciated the efforts of the RCB and district administration and expressed hope that public service standards would continue to improve in the future.
