CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) A major crackdown against criminal elements is underway across Chiniot under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, police officials said on Monday.

According to District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif, Chiniot Police arrested 17 suspects during various operations conducted in the last 24 hours. The arrested individuals included three proclaimed offenders, 10 accused involved in drug-related cases, and others booked in separate violations.

Police said 1,200 grams of hashish and 174 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the suspects. In addition, four more individuals were arrested in cases related to illegal weapons, gas refilling, speeding, and reckless driving.

Officials added that during routine checking using the Police Post App, 427 suspicious individuals and 599 suspicious vehicles were screened, while 300 vehicles were challaned for traffic violations, resulting in fines exceeding Rs700,000.

DPO Dr. Naveed Atif said the police are utilizing both manpower and modern technology to ensure public safety and maintain law and order. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or helpline 15 for timely action.
