FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) Agricultural scientists who recently returned after receiving advanced training in China under the Prime Minister’s “1000 Internship Program” shared their experiences and technological insights during a seminar held at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) where the officials also decided to form specialized research groups to promote modern agricultural practices in Pakistan.
AARI organized the seminar in its library Hall to disseminate knowledge gained by the officers during their training in China so that the latest agricultural technologies and successful farming models could be adapted to improve research and crop productivity in the country.
AARI spokesman said that around 30 researchers had been sent to China under the government initiative for three-month and six-month advanced training programs, which they completed successfully.
During different sessions of the seminar, the returning researchers delivered detailed presentations on modern agricultural research, innovative technologies and China’s highly productive agricultural systems.
The participants showed keen interest and actively engaged in question-answer sessions to better understand the techniques and strategies used in China’s agricultural sector.
Addressing the seminar, Director General Agricultural Research Dr Sajid-ur-Rehman said that two decades ago China’s agricultural productivity could be compared with many other countries, but sustained research and adoption of modern technology had enabled it to achieve remarkable per-acre yields that were now difficult to match.
He said that purpose of the seminar was to benefit from such international experiences and align Pakistan’s agricultural research with modern global trends.
Announcing an important initiative, the DG Research said that in next phase of the program, several task groups comprising the trained officers would be formed to work on “research revamping”.
These groups would utilize their newly acquired expertise to propose practical strategies for effectively integrating modern technologies into the local agricultural system, he added.
Concluding his address, Dr Sajid-ur-Rehman termed the program a significant milestone for the development of Pakistan’s agriculture sector and expressed confidence that the efforts of these young researchers would contribute to strengthening agricultural research and increasing crop productivity in the coming years.
Director Agricultural Information Faisalabad Dr Asif Ali along with other officers and researchers also attended the seminar and appreciated the knowledge and exposure gained by the officers during their training in China.
