Chief Minister orders zero tolerance against rape offenders

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi directed authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against individuals involved in rape cases across the province, stressing that such criminals should be made an example and must not be allowed to escape legal punishment.

He issued these directives while chairing a high-level review meeting on development projects, law and order, governance, and service delivery in Kohat Division.

The Chief Minister said that divisional-level review meetings were being formally initiated following the approval of the provincial budget, emphasizing that public trust, positive feedback, and citizen satisfaction would remain the true benchmarks of success.

He stated that the law and order situation in southern districts required special attention and reiterated the government's commitment to addressing security challenges and making the new fiscal year a period of peace, development, and prosperity.

He added that significant allocations had been made in the budget for police, health, and education sectors, while increasing police strength in southern districts was also under consideration.

The Chief Minister directed district administrations to maintain close contact with the public, improve service delivery, and ensure the timely completion of development projects.

He also instructed authorities to expedite efforts for a long-term solution to the issue of clean drinking water in southern districts.

Calling narcotics a serious social menace, he ordered an indiscriminate crackdown against drug dealers and directed authorities to implement measures for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.

Reviewing progress on the Salt and Gypsum City project in Karak, the Chief Minister expressed concern over delays and directed authorities to ensure visible progress within three months.

Officials informed the meeting that 377 development schemes are currently underway in Kohat Division under ADP 2025–26, with 99.6 percent of allocated funds released and a utilization rate of 96.7 percent.

They further stated that 75 new development schemes, with an estimated cost of Rs .63.6 billion, and 80 ongoing schemes, valued at Rs .95.2 billion, have been included in the Annual Development Programme for the upcoming fiscal year.
