Master Changan Motors may be preparing to introduce another compact crossover SUV in Pakistan after a Changan Oshan X5 test vehicle was reportedly spotted on local roads.
The sighting has sparked fresh speculation about the vehicle’s possible arrival, although the company has not officially confirmed any plans regarding its launch, pricing, specifications, or availability.
This is not the first time the Oshan X5 has been spotted in Pakistan. A left-hand-drive test model was also seen in 2022 and was reportedly brought in for road testing, research, and customer feedback.
The latest appearance suggests that Master Changan may still be assessing the vehicle for the local market. However, testing a vehicle does not necessarily mean it will be launched commercially.
In China, the Oshan X5 was introduced in several variants featuring both naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. However, Master Changan has not revealed which versions, if any, could be offered in Pakistan.
The company may choose to introduce only a limited number of variants depending on local demand, pricing strategy, and production considerations.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is considered the most likely option for Pakistan, as the earlier test vehicle also featured this powertrain. The Blue Whale turbocharged engine delivers 180 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The SUV offers seating for five passengers and uses a front-wheel-drive system. Its performance and size could place it in competition with several crossover SUVs already available in the local market.
The Chinese version is also available with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine, but there is currently no indication that this option will be introduced in Pakistan.
The Oshan X5 measures around 4,490 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,710 mm. It is smaller than the Oshan X7 and could serve as a more affordable and compact option within Changan’s SUV lineup.
If launched, the crossover could compete with models such as the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, MG HS, and Haval Jolion, depending on its final pricing and features.
Master Changan currently offers the Oshan X7, Alsvin, Karvaan, and M9 in Pakistan, while the Oshan X5 is not part of its official local lineup.
For now, reports about its arrival remain speculative until the company makes a formal announcement. If introduced, the Oshan X5 could strengthen Changan’s position in Pakistan’s competitive crossover SUV market, although its success would largely depend on pricing, features, local assembly, after-sales support, and delivery timelines.
More information is expected to emerge if additional test vehicles are spotted or if the company begins official promotional activities.
