Chairman Senate Gilani remembers father on 48th death anniversary

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) A "Mehfil-e-Hamd and Naat" was held at the premises of the shrine of leader of Pakistan Movement Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gillani, the father of Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, to mark his 48th death anniversary.

Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani attended the ceremony and thanked religious scholars, elders and guests for their participation.

Paying tribute to his late father, he said Makhdoom Alamdar Hussain Gillani was a prominent leader of the Pakistan Movement, a member of the Constituent Assembly, and served as Federal Minister for Health and Local Government after independence.

He also signed the 1956 Constitution, Gilani informed.

Speakers highlighted the late leader’s political struggle and national services. Religious scholar Allama Farooq Khan Saeedi shed light on his contributions, while Sajjadah Nasheen of Shrine of Musa Pak Shaheed, Makhdoom Syed Abul Hassan Gillani, offered a special prayer.

Among those present were MNAs Syed Ali Musa Gillani and Syed Ali Qasim Gillani, MPA Syed Ali Haider Gillani, Senator Rana Mahmood ul Hassan, former MPA Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gillani, and PPP leader Malik Manzoor Domra, along with a large number of dignitaries and devotees.
