Cars’ sale, production surge 53.32%, 51.76% in 10 months

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The sale and production of cars in the country increased by 53.32 percent and 51.76 percent, respectively, during the first ten months of the current fiscal year 2025–26 compared to the same period last year, demonstrating a revival in economic activity and growing consumer confidence in the automobile market.

During July–April (2025-26), as many as 127,042 cars were sold as against 83,401 units during the corresponding months of last year, while production rose to 131,181 units from 86,439 units, according to official data of the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).

Among different models, the sale of Honda cars increased by 52.44 percent, rising from 13,034 units last year to 19,870 units during the period under review.

Similarly, the combined sale of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris grew by 64.87 percent to reach 30,496 units compared to 18,496 units sold during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The sale of Suzuki Swift also recorded a substantial growth of 109.57 percent, increasing from 6,562 units to 13,752 units. Hyundai Elantra sales also climbed to 2,389 units from 1,395 units.

Meanwhile, Suzuki Cultus sales rose to 4,206 units from 2,130 units during the corresponding months of last year. Suzuki Alto remained the top-selling model in the country, with sales increasing to 48,832 units compared to 33,560 units in the same period last year, reflecting strong demand in the small car segment.

The sale of Suzuki Every also witnessed a sharp increase of 195.65 percent, rising from 2,253 units to 6,661 units during the months under review, largely driven by higher demand in the light commercial and small transport segments.

Meanwhile, the country’s transition towards cleaner transportation also gained momentum as 293 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were sold during July–April of the current fiscal year.

On the production side, Honda cars’ output increased by 60.31 percent from 12,554 units to 20,126 units during the ten-month period.

Similarly, the production of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris also grew by 60.99 percent, increasing from 19,094 units to 30,740 units during the period under review.

Suzuki Swift production also rose significantly by 107 percent, increasing from 6,821 units to 14,121 units, while Hyundai Elantra production increased to 2,510 units from 1,653 units.

The production of Suzuki Cultus also climbed to 3,894 units from 2,259 units, whereas Suzuki Alto production rose to 53,797 units compared from 34,849 units during the same period last year.

Suzuki Every production also posted an increase of 19 percent, rising from 4,368 units to 5,198 units during the ten-month period.

Meanwhile, as many as 270 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were produced during July–April (2025-26), reflecting the gradual entry of electric mobility into Pakistan’s automobile sector.
