Carrying sacrificial animals in buses, wagons banned

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) As Eid-ul-Azha approaches, the Punjab Traffic Police have decided to take strict action against illegal and dangerous transportation of livestock.

According to sources, DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has issued special instructions to all traffic officers to protect human lives and sacrificial animals.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, transporting sacrificial animals in passenger vehicles is completely prohibited, while strict legal action will be taken against those bringing animals in buses, wagons and coaches.

Authorities have warned that transporting animals on the roofs of vehicles or in a dangerous manner is not only illegal but can also cause accidents.

DIG Traffic Punjab directed that only freight vehicles should be used for the safe transport of sacrificial animals so that human lives and valuable livestock can be protected from accidents. He urged transporters and livestock owners not to put the lives of animals and citizens at risk to save a few bucks.

Muhammad Waqas Nazir said that all traffic officers should ensure indiscriminate action against illegal transport of livestock, while citizens should also follow traffic rules to protect their own and others’ lives.
