Capital on high alert for Youm-e-Ali, 3,000 ICT Police deployed

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have finalized foolproof security arrangements for Youm-e-Ali (RA), with more than 3,000 police officers and personnel deployed to ensure the safety of processions and religious gatherings in the Federal capital.

An official told APP on Tuesday that comprehensive security arrangements had been made for processions and majalis on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that participants would only be allowed to join the processions through designated routes after passing through walk-through gates, metal detectors and body search.

He said that all streets and lanes falling along the procession routes had been sealed to ensure effective security.

The DIG Tariq added that snipers had been deployed on rooftops along the procession routes while special checking would also be carried out at all entry and exit points of the city.

He said that traffic police officers and personnel would perform their duties to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate citizens during the event.

Tariq said that senior police officers would remain present in the field to review security arrangements and brief the deployed personnel.

He reiterated that Islamabad Police had made foolproof security arrangements for the processions, adding that protecting the lives and property of citizens remained the top priority of Islamabad Police.
