BAHAWALPUR:

A breach in a canal near Dera Nawab damaged standing crops spread over several acres, including maize and other seasonal crops, officials said on Friday.

According to officials of Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122, a major breach occurred in the embankment of a canal flowing from Dera Nawab towards Gulab, posing a threat to nearby residential areas and infrastructure.

Rescue officials said the control room immediately dispatched emergency teams after receiving information about the incident.

The breach, estimated to be around 10 to 12 feet wide, caused a rapid flow of water towards populated areas, raising fears of flooding and further crop damage.
