Call for practical steps to control population growth

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The Health and Population Department Bahawalpur organised an interactive meeting with journalists and seminar at Bahawalpur Press Club to highlighting the challenges and impacts of rapid population growth.

The seminar was attended by health officials, social workers, journalists, civil society representatives, and members of the public.

Speakers who addressed the seminar included District Population Welfare Officer Bahawalpur, Syed Zeeshan Arif, President, Bahawalpur Press Club, Chaudhry Saleem and others.

They stated that population growth had been putting immense pressure on health services, education, employment opportunities, and natural resources. The officials from the Health and Population Department opined that the government’s initiatives aimed at promoting family planning, maternal health, and public awareness. They underlined the need that the importance of responsible parenthood and community-level engagement to ensure sustainable development.
