Brother held after woman’s death revealed as murder over money dispute

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) In an unfortunate incident, a brother was found to be the alleged killer of his own sister after police investigations revealed that the death of a divorced woman in Yousafabad, initially reported as suicide, was in fact a murder linked to a financial dispute.

According to police, the incident was reported on June 6 and initially recorded as a suicide case. However, the post-mortem report, physical evidence and statements of witnesses led investigators to determine that the woman had been murdered.

During the course of the investigation, police arrested the victim’s brother, who was later identified as the main suspect.

Police said the suspect disclosed that he and his sister had been saving money together which had accumulated to Rs12,000. The dispute allegedly began after he demanded the amount and the woman refused to return it.

Authorities said an argument followed between the siblings and, in a fit of anger, the suspect allegedly opened fire, resulting in his sister’s death.

Police have registered a case and said further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
