BRA intensifies campaign to enforce revised 4 percent sales tax on food services

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) The Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) has accelerated its awareness and monitoring campaign to implement the revised 4 percent sales tax rate on restaurants, hotels, cafes, coffee houses, food huts, ice cream shops, and other food service providers under the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services Act, 2015.

BRA teams visited several outlets, the businesses were informed that under the Finance Act 2026, the sales tax rate on food services has been increased from 2 percent to 4 percent.

Officials directed service providers to ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including tax collection at the revised rate, timely filing of returns, payment of due taxes, registration with BRA, and effective use of Point of Sale (POS) systems.

The BRA emphasized that full compliance with tax laws is a legal obligation for all service providers. In cases of non-compliance, legal action will be taken under the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services Act, 2015.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a transparent tax system, fostering a business-friendly environment, and increasing provincial revenue. Awareness and enforcement campaigns will continue across Balochistan without interruption.
