Muslims should spiritually prepare for the blessed first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, as these 10 days are among the most virtuous days of the year in light of the Quran and Sunnah, said Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, Acting Rector and President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI)

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) Muslims should spiritually prepare for the blessed first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, as these 10 days are among the most virtuous days of the year in light of the Quran and Sunnah, said Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, Acting Rector and President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

He was delivering the Friday sermon at Faisal Masjid, Islamabad.

He emphasized increased engagement in prayer, fasting, remembrance of Allah, Takbir, charity, and other righteous deeds during these sacred days.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed is not only a religious scholar, but he also is a psychologist of international standards. He is counted among key advocates of global peace.

Earlier during his keynote address at International Narowal Peace Dialogue 2026, he said sustainable peace begins within the human mind.

He said sustainable peace is cultivated through empathy, emotional intelligence, mutual respect, and the ability to engage constructively with diversity. “Therefore, peacebuilding is not only a political or diplomatic effort but it is also equally a psychological and educational process,” he said.

He said, “Global tensions, including the conflict between the United States and Iran, remind us how fragile peace remains in our interconnected world. In this context, we acknowledge the responsible and balanced role of Pakistan’s leadership, particularly Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Asim Munir, in promoting restraint, dialogue, and diplomatic solutions, reflecting a firm commitment to regional and global stability.”

“We also appreciate the contributions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continued efforts in advancing dialogue, reconciliation, and peace across the Muslim world and beyond,” said Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed.

He said, “Peace is not built in conference halls alone. It is built in minds, in classrooms, and in the values we pass on to future generations. Let this dialogue not be the end of a discussion. It, rather, is beginning of a sustained commitment to building bridges.”

He appreciated efforts of Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal for promotion of peace.
