Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to inaugurate Shahrah-e-Bhutto on May 23

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th May, 2026) Senator Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh chapter, has said that Shahrah-e-Bhutto Karachi is a landmark mega project being developed in accordance with the visionary leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and will prove to be a transformative milestone in the progress and modernization of Karachi.

He said that the Rs57 billion project reflects the PPP leadership’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and modern transport facilities to the citizens of Karachi. He said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will formally inaugurate the project on May 23 at 4:00 PM.

Speaking to party office-bearers, workers, and members of civil society from various parts of Karachi at his office, Senator Waqar Mehdi said that Shahrah-e-Bhutto is a historic gift for the people of Karachi from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Stretching over 39 kilometers, the expressway begins from Taj Haider Bridge at Qayyumabad and extends up to Kathore on the Super Highway. He said the project would bring a revolutionary improvement in Karachi’s traffic flow by substantially reducing congestion and travel time, enabling commuters to cover long distances within minutes instead of hours.

Senator Waqar Mehdi further said that in the next phase, Shahrah-e-Bhutto will be linked directly with Karachi Port, which will further strengthen the city’s transport and trade network. He added that the upcoming phase will span approximately 13 kilometers, taking the total length of the project to 52 kilometers upon completion.
