LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) Punjab Minister and Co-Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order,Bilal Yasin on Tuesday visited the Punjab Home Department Digital Media Cell,where he was briefed on the department's cyber patrolling and quick response mechanism.
Punjab Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi gave a detailed briefing on cyber patrolling operations.
Special Secretary Faisal Fareed,Special Secretary Home Zainab Khan,Punjab Safe City Authority Managing Director Ahsan Younis and other senior officials were also present.
During the briefing, officials informed the minister that the cyber patrolling cell had succeeded in getting more than 3,000 social media accounts containing sectarian content blocked during the first ten days of Muharram.
They added that a social media awareness campaign promoting public awareness and social harmony was also carried out.
Bilal appreciated the performance of the cyber patrolling teams and congratulated them on their dedicated efforts.
He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the peaceful conclusion of Ashura Muharram across Punjab.
He said the peaceful observance of Ashura was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Pakistan Army, Home Department, Police,Health Department,Rangers,Rescue 1122,district administrations,Auqaf Department,Local Government Department, food Authority, LESCO,Civil Defence and other institutions.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The minister said all religious processions and gatherings across Punjab had been geo-tagged and monitored through surveillance cameras to ensure effective security arrangements.
He added that Muharram was being observed across the province with complete peace, devotion and respect.
Bilal Yasin said the Home Department's Cyber Patrolling Cell had tightened the noose around individuals involved in spreading sectarianism through social media.
Speaking on the occasion,Dr.Ahmed Javed Qazi said the Muharram security arrangements this year were among the best in the province's history and had been widely appreciated by people from all schools of thought.
He said religious scholars and peace committees also played a vital role in maintaining law and order.
The Home secretary added that action was being taken against individuals spreading sectarian hatred on social media through account blocking and arrests,reiterating that the government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against those involved in online incitement.
