MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid, has emphasized the need for stronger coordination and strategic planning to fully utilize the vast natural and human resources of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the Agriculture Conference 2026 organized by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation and ASMA in Mirpur on Wednesday, she praised the efforts of Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore for fostering collaboration among key stakeholders to advance the development agenda. She noted that ongoing initiatives under challenging circumstances were beginning to produce encouraging results for the region’s economy.

Senator Khalid highlighted women’s empowerment as a central pillar of development, stating that the increasing participation of women in different sectors reflects the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

She reaffirmed that BISP would continue working with the AJK government and other partners to expand economic opportunities and promote financial independence for women through joint initiatives.

She further stressed that strengthened institutional linkages and enhanced cooperation among public and private stakeholders are essential for sustainable economic growth. The BISP chief also appreciated the participation of government officials, experts, the business community, and civil society, commending the successful organization of the conference.
