Bangladesh delegation visits NDMA to study Pakistan’s disaster warning sñystem

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) A high-level civil service delegation from Bangladesh, led by Salmah Mahtab, visited the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday to observe Pakistan’s disaster management architecture, early warning systems and preparedness mechanisms aimed at tackling climate-induced and transboundary disasters.

During the visit, Chairman NDMA Inam Haider Malik said Pakistan remained committed to strengthening regional cooperation in disaster risk management and stressed the need for shared learning and collaboration between friendly countries, particularly Bangladesh, to address emerging climate-related hazards.

Officials briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s disaster management framework, highlighting the operational capabilities of the NEOC, including trigger-based anticipatory action systems, resource mobilisation mechanisms and international logistical support arrangements.

The delegation was also informed about data-driven early warning dissemination systems and coordinated emergency response structures designed to ensure timely decision-making during disasters.

Detailed presentations are delivered on “Pak Disaster Lens 2026,” focusing on the validation of Early Warning System Phase-I and future Phase-II enhancements, while “Global Disaster Lens 2026” outlined international best practices and Pakistan’s alignment with global standards in risk analytics and early warning dissemination.

The two sides also held discussions on expanding bilateral and regional cooperation in areas including early warning systems, joint search and rescue operations, capacity building, regional risk pooling and the establishment of a global disaster resource network.

The delegation later reviewed NDMA’s institutional preparedness and operational mechanisms before the visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and reaffirmation of mutual goodwill between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the field of disaster management.
