QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Dr. Kamran Khan, Deputy General Manager of Balochistan Children’s Emergency, has announced that the province’s only modern pediatric emergency facility was providing free medical care to between 500 and 600 children every day. Established in 2019, the center was designed to deliver timely, quality, and cost-free treatment under one roof.

Talking to APP here Wednesday, Dr. Kamran said that the program had already expanded to Khuzdar and Loralai on the efforts of Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar as plans were in motion to extend services to additional districts, reducing the burden on Quetta’s hospitals and ensuring access to quality healthcare closer to people’s homes.

Dr. Kamran Khan noted that 60 percent of patients were currently coming from Quetta, while 40 percent were arriving from other districts of the province. Seasonal changes have led to an increase in cases of diarrhea, pneumonia and malaria among children, he said and stressed that expanding pediatric emergency services at the district level would ease pressure on Quetta’s hospitals.

He explained that the emergency unit was catering not only to children from Quetta but also from various districts across Balochistan. “Patients are categorized into three groups; those in critical condition requiring immediate care, those who can wait briefly, and those whose cases are less urgent.”

He said, currently, around 150 trained medical staff serve at the facility, all equipped with specialized pediatric emergency training. Dr. Kamran Khan emphasized that efforts were underway to further enhance staff training to improve the quality of services. From registration to discharge, all medical facilities are provided free of charge, making this the first institution in Balochistan to offer comprehensive pediatric emergency care under one roof.

Appealing to parents, Dr. Kamran Khan urged them to prioritize children’s health and hygiene, provide clean water and nutritious food and seek immediate medical attention when illnesses arise to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment.
